Islander Launch

All first-year students are required to attend Islander Launch (new student orientation) before your first semester at TAMU-CC, where you will:

  • Learn about student resources
  • Get oriented with the campus
  • Meet fellow Islanders, including students, faculty and staff
  • Get your official University ID, the SandDollar$ card
  • And REGISTER FOR YOUR CLASSES! 

Reserving a Seat at Islander Launch

The cost to attend is $75 per person (each student and guest attending the event must reserve a seat). All attendees will receive continental breakfast, a catered lunch, and a bag full of TAMU-CC gear so you can start your semester in Islander style. Reservations close 1 week before the event OR when reaching max capacity.

Requirements for Reservations

To reserve a seat at Islander Launch, all incoming first-year students must:

  1. be admitted to TAMU-CC for the upcoming semester (check application status here).
  2. claim your Island ID (click here to set up your new user account or reset your password).
  3. access your Islander E-mail account using your Island ID and password.
  4. make sure your bacterial meningitis vaccination documentation is on file. For more information, contact the Office of Recruitment and Admissions at 361-825-2624 or email admiss@tamucc.edu
  5. have Texas Success Initiative (TSI) scores or proof of exemptions on file. To inquire about your TSI status, contact the Office of Academic Testing at 361.825.2334 or email atcweb@tamucc.edu.

Some students may have additional active registration holds that must be released before reserving a seat. Holds can be viewed after you log in to your SAIL account under student>student records>view holds. You might also have more instructions about how to handle your specific holds in your Islander E-mail account.

  • Islander Housing
    • hold HR- Housing Requirement: First-year students from outside the Coastal Bend area are required to live on-campus for two semesters and must have a finalized housing assignment or be approved for an exemption.   • Office of Recruitment & Admissions

Guest Reservations

Guests are encouraged, but not required to join their student at Islander Launch. Guest reservations can only be completed after the student receives their reservation confirmation email. The fee for each guest is $75. All who plan to attend the event must complete a reservation.
