First Wave is an experience for first-year students to assist in their transition to TAMU-CC in the week before the fall semester. 

The mission of this extended orientation program is to jump-start campus engagement and establish new support systems by building connections with students, faculty, and staff for improved student success.

First Islander Scholars’ Academy (FISA) welcomes students who are first in their family to attend college and their parents/guardians to attend FISA’s Meet & Greet at the Center for Academic Student Achievement (CASA). American Red Cross will be showcasing their different lines of services to promote volunteerism among students. Volunteer Opportunities are available to better serve the community or to gain experience and new skills.

Island Quest:- How well do you know the Island?  Get to know your new home as you head across campus on a fun scavenger hunt, getting prizes, freebies, food, and more along the way. Grab your friends and neighbors to discover all the great offices, resources, activities, and more that TAMU-CC has to offer you!

Peace, Love, Consent- Join your fellow Islanders for a fun night of trivia and tie dye brought to you by I-TEAM, Student Conduct & Community Standards, and Islander Housing! Students will learn the importance of consent and safety, all while listening to great music and tie dying FREE custom t-shirts! Peace Love Consent People
Bring a blanket to the East Lawn for popcorn and a FREE movie screening featuring Avengers Endgame and Aladdin! Transportation will be available to/from the Momentum campus/East Lawn between 9pm and the end of the second movie!

 

Friday, August 23rd REQUIRED ACTIVITIES starts at the Dugan Gym:  Sessions will include information from the Center for Academic Student Achievement, Information Technology, the First-Year Learning Communities Program, and Student Engagement & Success. Students will receive an email to their Islander account with a detailed schedule before the event. A sample schedule is below.

Join us on Friday, August 23rd for the 1st Annual Islanders Blue and Green Kickoff. Islanders Athletics would like for you to help us kick off the new year over in the Dugan Wellness Center. Have the opportunity to meet your very own student-athletes, coaches and Izzy the Islander. Students will also have to chance to participate in some activities and win some prizes. The Islanders Blue and Green Kickoff will begin at 4:30 pm! Volleyball audience
Come join us for some free s’mores on East Lawn! I-TEAM (Islanders Teaching Engaging and Motivating) invites you to come chill with new friends, jam to music, and learn a little bit more about what it takes to become a peer educator. Start the year on a high note by joining Campus Activities Board for their annual back-to-school bash! The DJ will be spinning all your favorite tunes. Take a picture with new friends at the photobooth! Come glow the night away! Glow Party

 

Drop by the Islander Welcome Center to meet an Island Ambassador and learn where your classes are. Stop by for group tours of campus or to pick up a map with directions! Bring a copy (or screenshot) of your class schedule. This will also give you an opportunity to learn about the Island Ambassadors, TAMU-CC's volunteer tour guides.
